Język Kolażu/Collage Language

Laureat 11 Warszawskiej Nagrody Edukacji Kulturalnej - I Miejsce w kategorii Instytucje Animacji Kultury.

To projekt realizowany w Domu Kultury Praga od września do grudnia 2019 roku. Sprawdzał, jak uniwersalnym i łączącym ludzi narzędziem może być technika kolażu. Zaczęło się od eksperymentu artystycznego, do którego zaproszono Martę Janik oraz Alexa Urso. Ze zbioru ponad stu historycznych fotografii warszawskiej Pragi artyści przygotowali niezależny od siebie obraz odzwierciedlający ich doświadczanie prawobrzeżnej części miasta. Kolaże Marty i Alexa stanowiły punkt wyjścia do komunikacji wydarzenia. Na podstawie tych prac stworzone zostały plakaty promocyjne oraz wyjątkowa instalacja wykonana w technice kolażu 3D wewnątrz słupa reklamowego przy Dworcu Śródmieście.

Marta Janik i Alex Urso przeprowadzili też warsztaty z mieszkańcami Warszawy. W ramach projektu odbyły się też wykłady varsavianistyczne, powstała kolażowa instalacja artystyczna, która stanęła przy al. Jerozolimskich oraz film w technice animacji poklatkowej, prowadzący nas ze Śródmieścia na Pragę.

Praga Północ jest w centrum naszej uwagi. A także jej mieszkańcy, którzy stali się prawdziwymi artystami.

W wyniku 8 spotkań warsztatowych (dla dzieci, dorosłych, międzypokoleniowych) powstały oryginalne prace, a najlepsze z nich zostały wydrukowane w formie pocztówek i wysłane w świat.

Wernisaż wystawy „Język kolażu” odbył się 10 grudnia 2019 roku w Centrum Praskim Koneser, wystawa trwała do 30 grudnia 2019 roku. Na wystawie zobaczyliśmy prace powarsztatowe oraz kolaże profesjonalnych artystów związanych z Pragą Północ. Podczas wydarzenia wystąpiła MIN t wokalistka i producentka Martyna Kubicz, która muzycznie zgłębia obszary tanecznej elektroniki i neo soulu, a jej debiutancki album nazywa się „Assamblage”. Kejos The-At-Er, zespół nowocyrkowy z Wrocławia, wykonał pokaz żywych kolaży, przygotowanych specjalnie na to wydarzenie.

O artystach

Alex Urso – włoski artysta malarz, grafik, autor kolaży. Obecnie mieszka i tworzy
w Ripatransone. Ma jednak siedmioletnie doświadczenie z emigracji artystycznej
w Warszawie. Ukończył Akademię Sztuk Pięknych w Mediolanie. Studiował także Literaturę
i Filozofię na uniwersytetach w Bolonii i Maceracie. Uczestnik wielu wystaw indywidualnych
i zbiorowych.

Marta Janik - kolażystka, ilustratorka, entuzjastka kiczu. Interesuje ją dadaizm i surrealizm. Jej prace wydrukował m.in. „Kwartalnik Przekrój” i „Maintenant”, niezależny magazyn dada publikowany w Nowym Jorku przez Three Rooms Press. Brała udział w wystawach grupowych m.in. w USA, Irlandii, we Włoszech. Obecnie pracuje w Domu Kultury Praga. Wcześniej spędziła 7 lat w Berlinie, gdzie uczyła polskiego oraz pracowała jako przewodnik w Muzeum Salvadora Dali.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Dom Kultury Praga Północ is a Culture Centre in Praga Północ, one of 18 districts of Warsaw, capital of Poland. Praga Północ is situated on the east side of Wisła river which flows through the city, dividing it. The district itself is very interesting. There are old houses mixed more often and more often with modern houses, which are being built in the „empty” spaces „between”. The gentrification is progressing. There are nice pubs and galleries. A lot of artists move here, because it is still cheaper to live here than in many other parts of the city. On one of the old buildings which survived the war there is a mural: the big hole made by a german artist called 1010. It was painted in 2015. The artist said at that time:

„Since I can remember I was attracted to holes. They are a symbol of carefree childhood for me, of permanently discovering something. I found them fascinating and saw them as openings, fractures, losses, discords, shortcuts and pleasures. Using them was combined with possibility of tasting something which seemd impossible to reach. The hole gave me the possibility of leaving outskirts and getting to the middle of something. But what is it, this „something”?

This hole inspired us. We decided to make a big project with residents, inhabitants and we were sure about one thing: we want to use collage. We wanted to check how universal and connecting people this technique can be. We wanted to reach something. Together. We wanted to ask ourselves and people who come to our centre and maybe those who had never been there before and we were hoping for them to come to find out about us: can we go deeper? And what does it mean? What will happen if we use a wonderful collage technique to create a story about our part of the world? Collage technique seemed perfect for the idea. We wrote a project, forwarded a proposal. Self-Government of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship (Samorząd Wojewódzwa Mazowieckiego) loved the idea and decided to help us. With the money we got a lot was possible. At the beginning we knew two things: that we want to organise collage workshops and later print postcards with works of participants and send them to the world.

We asked a second hand bookshop „Antykwariat Grochowski”, a place with old books and newspapers in our part of the city if they can support us by giving old albums and magazines for our worhshops. They reacted with enthusiasm. We gained media patronage Radio Kampus, Warsaw based Students Radio which provided information about our events. Italien Institute in Warsaw also supported us and our project became international. We invited italien artist Alex Urso and polish one Marta Janik to work with old photographs of Praga Północ. At first and we asked them to create collages. We got the old photographs from Museum of Praga.

And there was the first moment when gold fish appeared. And it was this magical element. We imagined the fish swimming from the hole on the buiding we all knew very well. The fish became a symbol of being curious.

During these couple of months we provided lectures about Warsaw held by historian Adam Lisiecki and we organised 8 workshops (for kids, adults and for all). We also asked Małgorzata Czekajło and Marta Janik to make a 3D Collage. For the whole November we rent a transparent advertisement column in the centre of Warsaw, next to the Palace of Culture. Artists created Praga Północ in a micro scale.

Beata Mikulik who is an art teacher at Dom Kultury Praga created big letters COLLAGE and gigantic scissors. All handame and awsome! We even did the proffesional photosession with the letters!

The big opening of the exhibition took place on the 10th of December in Centrum Praskie Koneser a complex of residential, office, cultural and entertainment facilities located on the premises of the former Warsaw Vodka Factory "Koneser". This kind of collaboration of commercial place and cultural one supperted by city, was a unique one. Dom Kultury Praga got the gallery space for the whole December. During the vernissage we saw a performance of KEJOS THE AT ER a new circus group which prepared „living Collages” esspecially for the event. We invited MIN t (Martyna Kubicz) to play a concert with music from her first solo album „Assamblage”. It was spectacular!

As a result we chose 20 works which we printed as postcards and we sent them to cultural institutions not only in Poland but also in other countries, to collage artists and to KOLAJ Magazine a quarterly, printed, art magazine reviewing and surveying contemporary collage with an international perspective.

As Dom Kultury we now have an apetite for more. We want to become an important collage centre in Poland, we organize collage workshops called COLLAGE CAFE, the first was organised on the 17th January. It will take place every month and will be led everytime by another collage artist.
